Attending Events

As the onsite squad’s mission is making sure events are running smoothly at-the-door, we try to attend some of the events when possible.

We kicked off this project by putting our Volunteer hats on and attending some of our events to better understand the main problems ticket sellers face at the door. We quickly learned that selling tickets can be both an exciting and stressful experience, considering so many things could possibly go wrong.

The issues ranged from a slow wi-fi connection to an iPhone battery dying in the middle of a transaction, or credit card numbers being illegible with card.io in a low lit environment.

The lineups for ticket sales were usually the largest and the most stressful; even cash transactions would take a while, as volunteers were required to collect every buyer’s information. This experience allowed us to see users interacting with it in an actual environment, and helped us determine where we should focus our efforts once we were back in the office.
